| Retirees
are served primarily through two UNT programs, CAPS (Continuing Academic
and Professional Services) and RIPS (Retired Instructors, Personnel, and
Spouses). RIPS was established in 1972 to maintain a relationship with the retired UNT family through social events. CAPS was established in 1998 with a mission to serve the University and particularly its retired personnel and their spouses through the dissemination of information, publications, educational programs, social events and advancement of retiree interests. The Retiree Services Coordinator works with a committee of retirees, spouses, and other University employees in administering the CAPS and RIPS Programs. The Coordinator performs benefit related services for the University’s retirees, their spouses, and surviving spouses. The Retiree Services Coordinator is responsible for keeping retirees and survivors informed regarding their UNT privileges and benefits and for responding to the needs of retirees with respect to these privileges and benefits. This individual works with the Human Resources Benefits Manager in establishing short and long range goals and objectives for the University’s pre-retirement benefit programs and procedures. This individual also serves as a liaison between University retirees and agencies such as the Teacher Retirement System, Employees Retirement System, and the Social Security Office. The Coordinator is available Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. |
