Retiree Services

  Retiree Insurance
   
 

Under current state law, you are eligible to participate in the retiree insurance program if you meet the following criteria:

 
  1. You are 65 and have at least 10 years of TRS or ORP creditable service, or
  2. You meet the Rule of 80 (years of creditable service plus age).
   
  Coordination of Benefits for 65 and over
 
   
  Health
  HealthSelect (Blue Cross Blue Shield) -- Refer to the BlueCross BlueShield website for details about retiree plan coverage and other valuable information.
   
  Dental
  Dental Indemnity Plan -- Dental Choice / GEHA
Dental Maintenance Plan -- Aetna Dental Maintenance Organization (DMO)
   
  Life
  Basic Group Term Life Insurance -- When you enroll in HealthSelect, you are automatically enrolled in Basic Group Term Life Insurance. This coverage provides $2,500 of Basic Group Term Life Insurance at no cost to you.

Optional Group Term Life Insurance -- You are eligible for Optional Group Term Life Insurance if you were enrolled immediately prior to your retirement.

Optional Group Term Life Insurance must be in place immediately before your effective retirement date or applied for through EOI within 30 days of your retirement date (The EOI process does not guarantee coverage will be approved).

Dependents’ Group Term Life Insurance -- As a Retiree with Basic Group Term Life Insurance, you are eligible to enroll if your Dependents were enrolled for Dependents’ Group Term Life Insurance immediately prior to your retirement (or you may apply through EOI within 30 days of your retirement date to add if approved).
   
  Long Term Care
  Long Term Care provides for the day-in, day-out assistance you need when a serious illness or disability renders you unable, physically or cognitively, to care for yourself for a lengthy period of time. Long term care can be provided at home or at a nursing facility, assisted living or an alternative care facility.
