Judy Shepard speaks about violence

Judy Shepard will speak at UNT about her son, hate crime victim Matthew Shepard, and his legacy as part of "Beyond Getting Along," an ongoing dialogue on diversity, from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 22 in the Auditorium Building.

A videotaped introduction of the forum and Shepard will be presented by Debbie Denmon, WFAA Channel 8 news anchor and UNT journalism graduate.

Ireland's former head of state to speak at UNT

Mary Robinson, the current U.N. high commissioner for human rights and a past president of Ireland, will speak at UNT April 25 as part of the 2002-03 Fine Arts Series.

Hurleys honored at UNT Alumni Awards Banquet

Spring means keeping an eye on the sky

Spring in Texas means bluebonnets, warm days and, unfortunately, unwelcome menaces in the sky tornadoes. An average of 118 tornadoes touch down in Texas each year, with more than half occurring in April, May and June, according to the Texas Almanac.

UNT leads Texas in number of Goldwater scholarship winners

For the third year in a row, UNT has more students named Barry M. Goldwater Scholars than any other Texas college or university.

Colors of their homelands — UNT international students from a wide variety of countries march through campus carrying the flags of their nations to kick off International Week at UNT. The weeklong observation of international cultures and histories was April 7-11.

Keep your ear to the telephone something new and improved is coming.

UNT will be rolling out a better voice mail system soon. Faculty and staff accessing the new service for the first time will be up and going in no time.

UNT expert explains when, how parents should talk to their children about war

In the midst of war, high anxiety and stress, the best thing parents can do for their children is learn to handle their own fears.

Garry Landreth, UNT Regents Professor of counseling, development and higher education and director of the Center for Play Therapy, says that parents should deal with their own anxieties and fears by talking with their spouse or friends, because more than ever their children need a sense of normalcy and calm. But this doesn't mean completely hiding the truth from children.
