Cassandra BerryUNT's President's Council is for everyone

You don't have to be an alumnus, a retiree or a high-dollar philanthropist to be a part of UNT's President's Council. You just have to care about UNT.

Cassandra Berry, associate vice president for equity and diversity, wants the campus community to know that the President's Council welcomes all UNT supporters as members.

"I originally thought President's Council was set up for those outside the university. Others on campus may believe this too," says Berry. "I would like to see more people know about internal involvement and its benefits."

Berry, a member since last summer, designates 100 percent of her membership contribution to the Multicultural Scholastic Award scholarship program, which is her passion, and the president's discretionary fund, which she believes will further improve UNT's outreach activities.

She appreciates that she is the one who decides how her dues are spent and even how her dues are paid.

An added benefit for faculty and staff is the availability of monthly payroll deductions, which divides the gift into manageable pieces.

"President's Council allows me to make an investment in what I believe in," says Berry, "and provides me with an opportunity to network with others both external and internal to the university."
