Regents approve $22 per semester credit hour tuition increase

In a special meeting March 26, the UNT System Board of Regents approved a board designated tuition increase from the current $53 per semester credit hour rate to $75 per semester credit hour for the 2004-05 academic year.

Senator to speak at UNT's general commencement ceremony May 8

Texas senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, the first woman representative from Texas in the U.S. Senate, will deliver this spring's commencement address at 12:30 p.m. May 8 during the general convocation in the UNT Coliseum. About 2,000 UNT students are expected to receive their degrees during the commencement ceremonies that day.

About the commencement speaker

In 1993, Kay Bailey Hutchison became the first woman to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate. Hutchison, who is one of 14 current women U.S. senators, was re-elected to a second full term in 2000.

Fire damage — Ceiling fans and light fixtures are among the ruined items that need replacing following a fire that damaged the Phi Kappa Sigma house earlier this month.


Phi Kappa Sigma house residents to spend remainder of semester in residence hall

UNT students living in the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity house will spend the rest of the semester living in a UNT residence hall following a fire that damaged the house on April 6.

Prizes up for grabs for survey participation

Two years ago almost 850 staff members participated in the 2002 Staff Survey conducted by the Office of Institutional Research and Accreditation double the number of participants of any previous staff survey. Surveyors are hoping the promise of prize drawings will again encourage staff to participate in the 2004 survey.
