UNT units on the move
January,
February and March were busy months for several UNT units as they moved
to new locations. Some have relocated to their new permanent homes, while
others are in temporary housing while remodeling work is done on their
regular locations.
The computer-based testing program of the Counseling and Testing Service
moved from the University Union to its new permanent home in Room 140
of the Gateway Center.
The Counseling
and Testing Service's main offices remained in Suite 321 of the University
Union until February, when the service was moved to Room 471 in the General
Academic Building while remodeling work is completed on its Union suite.
The Counseling and Testing Service main offices are scheduled to move
back to their Union location in May.
Several
units and departments moved out of Chestnut and Edwards halls before those
buildings were razed in late February and early March to prepare for UNT's
new Student Recreation Center.
- Programs
in special education, part of the Department of Technology and Cognition,
moved to their new home in Rooms 107-119 in Bain Hall.
- The
Survey Research Center, part of the School of Community Service, moved
to Suite 107 in College Inn. The center's survey research lab,
now located in Room 136D in Chilton Hall, is scheduled to move to College
Inn later this year after renovation work is completed in what was the
Club at College Inn's kitchen.
- The
UNT Press moved to Rooms 101-103 of Bain Hall.
- The
Office of Postgraduate Fellowships moved to Room 162 in Kendall Hall.
- Two
student organizations associated with the Department of Kinesiology,
Health Promotion and Recreation moved to the Physical Education Building.
The Recreation and Leisure Studies Society and Eta Sigma Gamma, the
student health promotion organization, are both located in Room 106
of the PEB.
- The
office for the National Youth Sports Program
operated by the Department of Anthropology
moved to Bain Hall, Rooms 104 and 105.
The UNT
Police, Parking and Transportation office, which occupied offices in the
Sullivant Visitor Center and in Edwards Hall, began the process of moving
to the new Sullivant Public Safety Center at the corner of Kendolph Drive
and Wilshire Street behind Mozart Square before Edwards Hall was torn
down last month. The department completed its move just before classes
resumed after Spring Break.
Just before
Spring Break, the Center for Public Management, which was located in Room
343 of Kendall Hall, moved to Rooms 289F, G, J, K and L in Chilton Hall.
