The University Writing Center

Since its creation in 1979, the University Writing Center, located in Room 105 of the Auditorium Building, has worked to help students learn to write more clearly, correctly and effectively and to develop a better understanding of writing generally.

Those working in the center have a challenging mission because they serve a diverse range of students, from freshmen to graduate students and from recently arrived international students to older, returning students.

The center provides one-on-one tutoring sessions to students of all majors and offers a variety of other services, such as reference books, an online support page, hundreds of worksheets and a grammar/writing hot line.

Each semester, workshops are conducted on a variety of subjects, including punctuating, paragraphing, editing and writing essays and research papers.

Students interested are encouraged to visit the center and take advantage of its free services.
