Acclaimed poet to visit UNT April 13

Bin Ramke, a poet critically acclaimed for his remarkable precision, charm, pathos and flexibility of voice, will read selections from his works at UNT April 13.

Ramke's reading, which is free and open to the public, begins at 4 p.m. in the University Union, Golden Eagle Suite. The reading is part of the 2000-01 Visiting Writer Series sponsored by the UNT English Department.

Ramke has written seven books, including The Difference Between Night and Day, which won the Yale Younger Poets Award, and Wake, which won the Iowa Poetry Award from the University of Iowa Press. The release of his latest book, Airs, Waters, Places, from the University of Iowa Press is expected this spring.

Ramke has also won the Texas Institute of Arts and Letters Award, the Kayden Award in Arts from the University of Colorado, and several Pushcart Prizes, among other awards. His works have appeared in avant garde journals such as Volt and the Colorado Review as well as mainstream publications such as the Paris Review and the Ohio Review. He currently serves as a professor of English at the University of Denver.
