Search on for new head basketball coach

UNT began a nationwide search for a new head men's basketball coach immediately following the March 12 departure of Vic Trilli.

Announcing the dismissal, Acting Athletic Director Allen Ward said, "We appreciate everything that Coach Trilli has done for us and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."

In four years, Trilli's teams compiled a record of 20 wins and 87 losses. This year's team went 4-24.

"We felt that timing was an issue and it was in the best interest of everybody concerned that a change be made at this time," says President Norval Pohl. "We want our new athletic director involved in making the decision (to fill the position)."

Ward announced that assistant head coach Jeff Ray will be in charge of basketball operations during the transition.
