Women's History Month events at UNT

UNT's celebration of Women's History Month will include the sixth annual UNT Commission on the Status of Women Conference and a lecture by one of the writers of legislation leading to Title IX, among other events.

March is designated for the celebration of Women's History Month, which grew out of an effort more than 20 years ago to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of women in American history. The national theme this year is "Celebrating Women of Courage and Vision."

On March 13 Bernise R. Sandler, senior scholar at the Women's Research and Education Institute in Washington, presents "Title IX: How We Got It When No One was Looking." The lecture begins at 4 p.m. in the University Union Lyceum.

The sixth annual UNT Commission on the Status of Women Conference is March 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the University Union Silver Eagle Suite. Registration is $40. This year's theme is "Changing the Portrait of Leader-ship One Woman at a Time: Women Mentoring Women."

For a complete listing of UNT Women's History Month events, see the UNT event calendar web site at www.unt.edu/events . For more information, call 565-2098.
