Yes, I would like to know why it is the university does not run a drug test on people that work for the university. You know, why people haven't been checked out for maybe coming to work with alcohol smell. That's what I would like to know and would suggest that I think the university should have drug testing on all the employees. Thank you. Response from Richard Rafes, senior vice president for administration: For state employees, drug and alcohol testing is permitted only when there is a reasonable suspicion of use of a prohibited substance (see UNT policy 1.2.12) or in accordance with law authorizing the testing. For example, the university is required to conduct drug and alcohol testing on any UNT employee who drives commercial vehicles. If a person believes an employee is under the influence of alcohol or drugs or acting inappropriately, he or she should report it to a supervisor or administrator of the university. Individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs could be a danger to themselves or others and will not be tolerated by the university. If you have a comment, complaint or compliment about the university, call Answer Line at (940) 565-4100 and leave your remarks on the recording. Please be specific. Your message will be directed to the appropriate officials and a response may be published on the InHouse web site. Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity. Unsubstantiated personal accusations will not be published.
