Almost 2,000 expected to graduate during UNT commencement ceremonies Aug. 9

James Duban, English professor and director of the UNT Office for Nationally Competitive Scholarships, will be the featured speaker during summer commencement at UNT Aug. 9.

The ceremony will include the hooding of approximately 50 doctoral candidates out of the approximately 1,800 students who are expected to graduate.

Duban will give his address during the 12:30 p.m. general convocation in the UNT Coliseum. He was selected as the summer speaker by the faculty, who select an outstanding faculty member to address the summer graduates each year.

Following UNT's general convocation, ceremonies will be held in the Coliseum for the university's individual schools and colleges.

Commencement for the College of Business Administration, School of Community Service, School of Library and Information Sciences, College of Music and School of Visual Arts will be at 2:30 p.m.

Commencement for the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management will begin at 4:30 p.m.

A reception for all graduates and their guests will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Gateway Center.
