UNT summer commencement is Saturday


Emile Sahliyeh, associate professor of political science, will be the featured speaker during the general university commencement, which begins at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the UNT Coliseum.

Doctoral candidates will be hooded during the ceremony and about 2,000 students overall are set to receive degrees at the summer commencement during individual school and college convocations at 9:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

A reception for graduates and their guests will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in the Gateway Center Ballroom.

A web cast of the commencement ceremony will begin on the UNT web site at 9:30 a.m. To watch, go to www.unt.edu/commencement and click on the "watch live" link.

Commencement Schedule

9:30 a.m.

  • College of Arts and Sciences — Coliseum
  • School of Library and Information Sciences — Murchison Performing Arts Center

12:30 p.m.

  • University Commencement for all candidates — Coliseum

2:30 p.m.

  • College of Education and College of Public Affairs and Community Service — Coliseum
  • College of Music — Murchison Performing Arts Center

4:30 p.m.

  • College of Engineering — Murchison Performing Arts Center
  • College of Business Administration; School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management; School of Visual Arts — Coliseum
