Student Recreation Center memberships available to faculty, staff for 2004-05 Faculty and staff make up a significant portion of the UNT Student Recreation Center's population, and now is the time to sign up for memberships for the 2004-05 academic year. "Our goal is to have a wellness program that accommodates the many different needs of faculty and staff," says Laurie Klein, senior associate director of the center. "We want to remind them to apply fitness in their personal lives." UNT faculty and staff can join the Student Recreation Center by purchasing an annual membership or by paying for services each semester. The cost of an annual membership is $243.75, or $20.31 a month, though memberships are not sold on a month by month basis. The cost to join by semester is $75 each for the fall, spring and summer semesters. It costs $37.50 each for Summer I and II and $18.75 for the May Mini-mester. Spouses and children (ages 16-24) of faculty and staff can join the center for the same cost as faculty and staff, and recreation center members can sponsor up to two guests each day for a guest fee. Center membership includes access to all facilities with the exception of the climbing wall, which requires an additional fee. Enrolling in some aerobics classes also requires additional fees but others are free. Faculty and staff membership packages may be purchased at the Student Recreation Center. Annual membership packages can be purchased through the fall semester. Faculty and staff may use payroll deduction to purchase their memberships, but this must be done by Sept. 10. Faculty and staff automatically become members of the UNT Faculty/Staff Fitness Program when they purchase recreation center memberships and are eligible for 20 minutes of administrative leave for one hour of daily exercise, as approved by a supervisor, as well as other programs.
