Events planned to welcome students back to UNT

To help new and returning students adjust to college life, UNT annually sponsors Howdy Week and First Flight 2004, weeklong celebrations that signal the start of the fall semester.

First Flight 2004 is held Aug. 23-27, the week prior to the start of classes. Most residence hall students will have already moved onto campus, and the week's activities are designed to help them experience the campus culture.

Howdy Week, Aug. 30-Sept. 3, is held during the first week of fall classes and serves as a series of welcome events for all students. Howdy Week includes the sixth annual Mean Green Fling, Sunday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. on the Campus Green.

Other examples of Howdy Week and First Flight events include departmental open houses, pizza parties, ice cream socials, cookouts and live music. A full schedule of events can be found online at www.unt.edu/sac. Each event is sponsored and prepared by individual departments at UNT. All UNT faculty and staff are welcome to attend any of the events.

For more information on   First Flight 2004 or Howdy Week events, contact Amy Ayres at (940) 565-4413 or aayres@dsa.admin.unt.edu.
