2002 Summer II enrollment climbs 8.5 percent over 2001

The unofficial head count numbers for Summer II, which were up 8.5 percent coupled with substantial enrollment gains in Summer I and the May Mini-mester indicate that as of the July 11 census date UNT summer enrollment is up dramatically over last year.

UNT reports summer enrollment as a cumulative number from all three class sessions May Mini-mester, Summer I and Summer II taught during May, June, July and August.

During the 2001 Summer II session, 8,781 students were enrolled at UNT. This year the Summer II number was 9,526.

The 745-student increase in Summer II enrollment follows enrollment increases in the May Mini-mester and Summer I.

During the 2001 Summer I session, 11,285 students were enrolled. This year the Summer I number was 12,816 1,531 more students than last year, a 13.6 percent increase.

Likewise, May Mini-mester enrollment increased for the fourth consecutive year.

In 2001, there were 3,719 students enrolled in the May Mini-mester, a program started at UNT in 1998. This year's May Mini-mester number was 4,113 a 10.6 percent increase over last May's totals.

Numbers are unofficial until the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approves and certifies them. The report will be submitted in August and certified in the fall.
