Hop a bus to Austin for the Mean Green football season opener

The North Texas Exes, UNT's alumni association, has reserved a 52-passenger bus to take fans to the UNT-Texas game at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 4. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. and those who make a bus reservation will be contacted regarding departure time when it is established. The bus will leave Austin from Memorial Stadium immediately after the game.

Bus tickets cost $30 per person for North Texas Exes members and students with UNT identification, and $35 for others. To buy tickets, contact Janine Kraus with the North Texas Exes at (940) 565-4204.

If you drive yourself to Austin, consider taking Capital Metro buses to the stadium to avoid searching for a parking space. Capital Metro, Austin's mass transportation system, will run buses to the stadium from Barton Creek Mall, located at the intersection of Loop 1 (Mopac) and Loop 360; from the UT Intramural Fields at 51st Street and Guadalupe; and from Stubb's Barbeque at 8th Street and Red River Drive. Round trip prices for the shuttle are $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-12, and correct change is required. Children younger than 6 ride free. Before the game, the buses will drop patrons off on the west curb of Red River Drive.

If you want to park as close to the stadium as possible, use the Trinity Garage at the corner of Trinity Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., one block south of the stadium. Parking will be available for $5.

Arrive early enough to attend the tailgate party at Waterloo Park sponsored by the North Texas Exes, the Office of Development and North Texas Athletics. The park is located on the corner of Trinity Street and 15th Street, two blocks south of the stadium and one block south of Trinity Garage. At 3 p.m., Bert's BBQ in Austin will provide meals for $5 per person on a first come, first served basis.
