Defense bill approved by Congress includes $4.8 million for UNT
By approving the $417.5 billion Department of Defense appropriations bill for fiscal year 2005, the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate authorized $4.8 million in funding for the UNT Center for Advanced Research and Technology at the UNT Research Park. President George W. Bush is expected to sign the measure soon. Securing the funding for UNT were Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, co-author of the bill in the Senate, and Rep. Michael Burgess in the House of Representatives.

UNT study: Gender bias still evident in media's coverage of the Olympics
When the Summer Olympics begin Aug. 13 in Athens, Greece, female athletes can count on having more time on U.S. television than ever before, thanks to coverage by six NBC networks. But according to a UNT research team, increased coverage of female athletes will probably not result in equitable coverage of male and female athletes if past Summer Olympics coverage on NBC is any indication.

Hop a bus to Austin for the Mean Green football season opener
The North Texas Exes, UNT's alumni association, has reserved a 52-passenger bus to take fans to the UNT-Texas game at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 4. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. and those who make a bus reservation will be contacted regarding departure time when it is established. The bus will leave Austin from Memorial Stadium immediately after the game.
