EMERGENCY LOAN FUND FOR STUDENTS

PERTINENT FACTS

The Emergency Loan Fund for Students (currently called the “NT Green Loan”) allows students to receive small emergency loans for a 10-day period.  The program has been popular with students and over six hundred loans were awarded during its first year.

Recently, the University received a donation of $5,000 which will allow the University to raise the loan amount above the Board approved level of $50.  In order for the University to have flexibility in handling these loans in the future, the Administration is recommending that it be given authority to set the level of the loans.

RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS

It is recommended that the Board of Regents grant the University Administration the authority to set the amount for an individual loan as described above.
