NAMING OF FACILITY

PERTINENT FACTS

At their regular meeting on December 1, 1995, the Board of Regents approved the development of a comprehensive master plan of the University.  The resulting document, completed in 1998, provided a framework for the continuing development of the University.  One of the recommendations of the Master Plan was that a research/business park should be established which would complement the technology, business, and other programs at UNT.

On October 15, 2001, the Board of Regents approved the purchase of the Texas Instrument (TI) facility in Denton.  Although other activities will be housed in the facility it is prudent to emphasize research for university and partnership potential.  Accordingly, it is appropriate that the facility be named the University of North Texas Research Park.

RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS

It is recommended that the Board of Regents approve naming the former TI facility as the University of North Texas Research Park.
