University TheaterFire damages Speech/Drama Building

The Denton Fire Department received an alarm at 9:19 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 regarding a fire in the UNT Speech and Drama Building. The fire originated on the stage of the University Theatre, where it remained contained until it was extinguished.

Craig HelwigAthletic director resigns

UNT Athletic Director Craig Helwig submitted his resignation on Nov. 22. In accepting the resignation, UNT President Norval Pohl cited Helwig's contributions as a foundation for future developments.

Students approve referendum to build new recreation center

Early in October, students voted to approve the construction of a new recreation center at the Denton campus. Pending approval by the Texas Legislature, the center will open for faculty, staff, students and alumni during the fall semester of 2003.

Weather closing information

When weather conditions pose a significant threat to the safety of students, faculty and staff members who commute to campus, UNT's offices will close. Classes will be canceled not only at our campus here in Denton, but at all locations in the Metroplex where UNT classes are offered.
