Students, faculty and staff may nominate individuals in four categories: Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, UNT Community Award, President's Award and Special Recognition Award. An awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. April 11 at the Murchison Performing Arts Center. With says finding a worthy candidate is often easier than most people think.
"Every department and office has someone worthy of receiving these awards," she says. "All we have to do is look around and recognize the quality of our students, faculty and staff in our respective areas of expertise." Each award has specific criteria that must be met before a candidate is chosen. The Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges award is intended to honor students who excel in scholarship, leadership, service and citizenship. The UNT Community Award honors those who have done more than their expected duties and responsibilities to help improve the university community. The President's Award is reserved for individuals or groups whose accomplishments have brought significant recognition to UNT. Finally, the Special Recognition Award honors special contributions, such as outstanding long-term service or unusual singular contributions.
