Parent education conference planned

Improving parenting skills such as listening, problem solving and improved communication is the primary goal of the ninth annual Conference on Parent Education, scheduled Feb. 16-17 at UNT.

The national interdisciplinary conference is for professionals, students, policy makers, parents, peer educators and others interested in parent education.

The featured conference speaker is Stephen Bavolek, a recognized leader in the fields of child abuse, neglect treatment, and prevention and parenting.

The conference, sponsored by the UNT Center for Parent Education, will take place in the Golden Eagle and Silver Eagle suites and fourth floor meeting rooms in the University Union.

Deadline to pre-register is Feb. 10. Fees range from $65 for one day to $150 for the entire two-day conference, including preconference sessions on Feb. 15. The costs include parking and meals. On-site registration will be available for a higher fee and will not include meals. For registration forms and more information, visit the conference's web site at www.unt.edu/cpe/professionals/conferences/conference.htm.
