Music sales support tsunami relief

Norah Jones is the latest member of the UNT family to provide musical support for the tsunami relief efforts. During the Feb. 13 Grammy Awards telecast, she performed the Beatles' "Across the Universe" with Bono, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Tim McGraw and other artists in a special fundraising segment.

The track is now available for 99 cents at Apple's iTunes Music Store (www. apple.com/itunes), with all proceeds from download sales going to tsunami relief efforts.

Previously, the College of Music raised approximately $4,600 through a benefit concert that featured faculty musicians, the A Cappella Choir and the One O'Clock Lab Band. All donations were given to the Red Cross in memory of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's grandson, a victim of the tsunami, to honor the special relationship UNT has shared with the Thai royal family since the lab band visited Thailand last spring.
