As of Monday, Jan. 26, the 12th class day for Spring 2004, unofficial enrollment at UNT is up 1.2 percent over last year — 29,714 students this spring compared to a 29,373 official enrollment last spring, or an additional 341 students. UNT's current string of enrollment increases began in 1997 and is forecast to continue at least through 2015. Undergraduate enrollment jumped 4.4 percent, from 21,425 students last spring to 22,367 students this spring. However, graduate enrollment is down 247 students or 3.9 percent at the master's level and down 16 students or 1.2 percent at the doctoral level. This year UNT's spring student numbers include an on-site enrollment of 1,185 students (accounting for 411.7 in full-time equivalents or FTEs) at the UNT Dallas Campus. Dallas Campus enrollment this spring is up 19.2 percent over last spring. Once the Dallas Campus enrollment reaches 1,000 full-time equivalent students, the UNT System can establish the University of North Texas at Dallas as an accredited, full-fledged, freestanding university and the first public university within the Dallas city limits. All 2004 enrollment statistics are unofficial, 12th-class-day numbers. Enrollment numbers do not become official until they are reported to and certified by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
