Black History Month under way at UNT

Black History Month will celebrate "The Soul of Black Folk: Perspectives on the African/African American Culture" during the month of February.

With more than 15 events scheduled, faculty, staff and students can share in the history, culture, life and achievements of Africans and African Americans.

Events started on Feb. 4 with a seminar titled "Contributions of Nile Civilization Part II: The Untold Story" in the Eagle Student Services Center.

Throughout the month the UNT Multicultural Center, along with various organizations and faculty, will sponsor films, lectures, guest speakers, a dance presentation, and musical performances including student renditions of jazz great John Coltrane.

All the events will culminate with the Women of Color seminar,"Women in Politics: Breaking the Glass Ceiling." The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 28 in the University Union, Room 411.

For a listing of Black History Month events, see the UNT event calendar web site at www.unt.edu/events.
