Enrollment up 6.8 percent over last spring

As of the 12th class day for Spring 2003, unofficial enrollment at UNT is up 6.8 percent over last year. That's 29,373 students this spring compared to a 27,398 official enrollment last spring an addition of 1,975 students.

This year's figure is up 14.5 percent (or 3,721 students) over the 25,652 students enrolled in Spring 2001.

Undergraduate enrollment jumped 4.3 percent going to 21,477 students this spring from 20,599 students last spring.

Once again, a large portion of the overall increase can be traced to significant growth in graduate students. This spring the total number of master's students is up 18.2 percent. This follows an 18.6 percent increase last spring.

In addition, doctoral student enrollment grew for the second consecutive year with a 6.7 percent increase going to 1,279 students this spring from 1,199 students in Spring 2002.

UNT's 2003 student numbers include an on-site enrollment of 994 students at the UNT Dallas Campus (also known as the UNT System Center at Dallas). This represents a 14.4 percent increase over the 869-student enrollment during the fall term and a 31.8 percent increase over the 2002 spring semester.

UNT's significant enrollment increases began in 1997 and are forecast to continue at least through 2015. All enrollment statistics are unofficial, 12th-class-day numbers. Enrollment does not become official until it is reported and certified by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
