process for new UNT System chancellor is under way Following Chancellor Alfred F. Hurley's announcement of plans to step down, UNT System Board of Regents Chair Bobby Ray notified the UNT community in a Jan. 29 letter that the regents have launched a search for a new UNT System chancellor. According to Ray, the board plans to name a new chancellor by the end of the 2001-02 fiscal year. Campaign North Texas tops 75 percent Alumni and friends of UNT are responding positively to Campaign North Texas. Gifts and pledges have reached $115 million more than three-fourths of a $150 million goal.
UNT enrollment up 7.2 percent for spring As of the 12th class day for Spring 2002, unofficial enrollment at UNT is up 7.2 percent over last year. That's 27,501 students this spring compared to a 25,652 official enrollment last spring a difference of 1,849 students.
UNT's student-run restaurant, the Club at Gateway Center, will start a new season at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 18 in the UNT Gateway Center. The restaurant moved last fall to its new facility, which features a $500,000 state-of-the-art kitchen with a variety of ovens and steamers and an expanded dining area capable of accommodating anywhere from 150 to 500 people. TRIO, a federal program directly responsible for making educational opportunities available to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, will honor its current UNT students and alumni during the National TRIO Day celebration Feb. 18.
