UNT holiday drives quadruple last year's donationsfood drive

The UNT community contributed an astounding 18,150 pounds of food for the 2001 food drive sponsored by the Human Resources Department. Kristen McMeen, university training coordinator, says that is four times the amount donated during the 2000 food drive.

The drive also collected $228 for the Denton Community Food Center and 850 toys for the Silent Santa program.

McMeen says UNT moving and hauling employees delivered four truckloads of donations to the food bank and Silent Santa program.

"When we started our drive, the food bank's shelves were at an all-time low," McMeen says. "In order to fit all the food that came from the UNT community, they had to open a new room in their building."
