Former UNT regent named to Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Jerry Farrington

Back when UNT was North Texas State University, Jerry Farrington stepped on campus in the early 1950s as a bright-eyed student, full of anticipation. Admittedly, he didn't expect to one day become chair of the UNT Board of Regents or an October 2001 appointment to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Charles Hallford, a Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science student from Brady, was part of a team of students placing fourth in the finals of the 2001 Siemens Westinghouse Science & Technology Competition. He received a $10,000 scholarship.

UNT holiday drives quadruple last year's donationsfood drive

The UNT community contributed an astounding 18,150 pounds of food for the 2001 food drive sponsored by the Human Resources Department. Kristen McMeen, university training coordinator, says that is four times the amount donated during the 2000 food drive.

Hurley reappointed to citizens council board

The Dallas Citizens Council reappointed UNT System Chancellor Alfred F. Hurley to its 2002 board of directors. Hurley joined the council board in January 2000.

Cooler temperatures mean winter is here. Unfortunately, winter brings the threat of hazardous driving conditions due to snow and ice.

When weather conditions pose a significant threat to the safety of students, faculty and staff members who commute to campus, UNT's offices will close. UNT classes will be canceled not only at the Denton campus, but also at all locations in the Metroplex where UNT classes are offered, including the Universities Center at Dallas. When the Denton campus closes, so does the UNT System Center at Dallas.
