University Union's Corner Store gets a face-lift

drawing of the Corner StoreRenovations to the Corner Store, located on the second floor of the University Union, were scheduled for completion last week. The renovations were made to alleviate congestion and to offer a greater variety of food options to faculty, staff and students, says Sodexho representative Peter Johnson, general manager of UNT retail.

The renovated store offers several new features in addition to convenience items and bottled beverages.

The Sub Connection offers sandwiches on fresh baked bread, soups and salads. Jazzman's Café, in the front of the store, features upscale coffee and baked goods, including fresh treats like muffins, pound cake, chocolate bars and biscotti. New Generation Freshen's Smoothies includes fruit smoothies, frozen yogurt and specialty ice creams.

The renovations also added a fourth register to help speed up checkouts.

"The Corner Store renovation was the second phase of the remodel plan agreed upon with the school when Sodexho took over the retail food service on campus," Johnson says. "We wanted to give everyone something a little different."
