Service will honor Steve Miller
The UNT community will honor Stephen C. "Steve" Miller, who died Jan. 12, during a special memorial service. The service will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 21 (Friday) at Winspear Hall in the Murchison Performing Arts Center. A reception will follow in the Gateway Center Ballroom. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 15 (Saturday) at the Denton Bible Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 14 (Friday) at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

Formula funding is top priority for UNT during 2005 legislative session

| Cheering the Mean Green in the Big Easy — UNT football fans made what has become a traditional pre-Christmas pilgrimage from Denton to New Orleans to see the Mean Green play in the New Orleans Bowl. Among the revelers who turned out for the pregame party at the House of Blues Dec. 13 were David Layton, executive director of the North Texas Exes and 1994 UNT graduate, and Carrie Layton, 1993 UNT graduate. |

Library Mall renovation work continues
The renovation of the Library Mall, located between Willis Library and the Eagle Student Services Center, has begun with the installation of 16 new light poles.

New UNT degrees approved by Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board recently gave UNT approval to begin offering a new bachelor's degree and a new doctor of philosophy degree this year, as well as to offer a new master's degree beginning in 2007.

Murphy entrepreneur contest winners named
UShip, a company created by a team of University of Texas at Austin students that connects those who need to ship furniture and other large items to drivers who will be passing through their locations, took the top prize of $15,000 in the annual Shirley Murphy Entrepreneur Contest, sponsored by UNT's Murphy Enterprise Center.

UNT gifts made holidays bright for residents in need
University employees contributed 10,382 pounds of food and $1,144 for the Denton Community Food Bank during the 2004 toy and food drive sponsored by the Department of Human Resources. The drive also collected 847 toys for the Silent Santa program.
