UShip, a company created by a team of University of Texas at Austin students that connects those who need to ship furniture and other large items to drivers who will be passing through their locations, took the top prize of $15,000 in the annual Shirley Murphy Entrepreneur Contest, sponsored by UNT's Murphy Enterprise Center.

Open to teams representing any Texas college or university, the contest provides cash prizes for innovative and unique business ideas and products, with the Murphy Enterprise Center Wells Fargo Bank, and Vincera, Inc. providing financial capital to make these ideas a reality. Winners were announced Nov. 12.

The second-place prize of $10,000 went to a team of UNT students for CollegeStudentNeedsWork.com, an Internet-based advertising service that links college students in need of part-time work with residents of their college towns.

A second team of students from the University of Texas at Austin received the third-place prize of $5,000 for developing LoDrag Inc., a concept to apply plastic or acrylic sheeting to ship hulls to reduce drag.
