Give the driver behind you a surge of Mean Green pride by purchasing a UNT license plate, which spreads school spirit and, more importantly, benefits UNT students through a scholarship fund. The cost of the plate is $30 plus the registration fee charged by the county tax assessor; $25 is given to UNT for scholarships. Proceeds from the license plates add up quickly. In the last five years UNT has awarded about $32,100 to students in the form of scholarships, says Michael Haynes, assistant director for the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships office, which administers the fund. The university is hopeful that a new awareness campaign, designed by University Communications and Marketing, will generate much needed general scholarship funds. Todd Lancaster, university creative director in University Communications and Marketing, was in charge of designing the campaign. "The campaign tells people that they can display their UNT pride among all the other universities represented on state highways and, at the same time, help UNT students," Lancaster says. To apply for a UNT license plate, download an application form from www.unt.edu/plates/index.htm or pick one up at any of the following campus locations:
