football coach Gene Stallings joins UNT as athletics consultant

retired collegiate and professional football coach, will assist UNT as
a consultant in its national search for an athletic director beginning
in January.

President Norval Pohl met with a group of students Nov. 27 to gain insights from their viewpoints and to address their concerns regarding diversity issues, particularly those that affect ethnic minorities and women.

New state rep speaks at Fall 2000 commencement
Myra Crownover, the newly elected state representative for Texas House District 64, presented the commencement address to members of the Fall 2000 graduating class Dec. 16. About 1,800 students received degrees during ceremonies throughout the day.

TAMS students have promising year ahead
The new year is shaping up well for two young people involved with the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science. One graduated from UNT in December at the age of 17. The other has been offered an internship with NASA, thanks to a virtual reality glove he developed to aid astronauts.
UNT beats SECC $100,000-goal by $28,172
Members of the UNT faculty and staff set an all time participation record in the 2000 SECC campaign by making 873 donations, an 11.5-percent increase over last year. The faculty showed the largest increase, with 89 more individual contributions than last year.
Network set to accommodate students
The Texas Computer-based Testing Collaborative, a web-based testing network for distance learning students in Texas, recently was organized by Jenny Jopling, associate director of the Center for Distributed Learning.
