season UNT fans cheer on the Mean Green at the New
Orleans Bowl Dec. 16. Although the Mean Green comeback effort
fell short in a 27-17 loss to the University of Memphis, North
Texas made its third straight appearance in the New Orleans Bowl
after winning its third consecutive Sun Belt Conference championship. |
La Point to serve
on national committee
Tom La
Point, director of the UNT Institute of Applied Sciences and professor
of biological sciences, was recently selected by the National Academy
of Sciences to serve on the Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology.

grading system announced to senate

grading concept recommended by the Academic Affairs Committee will
be instituted at UNT by April 2005 for undergraduate students only,

during the Dec. 10 Faculty Senate meeting.

Jan

was recently elected president of the International Association for
Near-Death Studies.

donations make the holidays brighter

UNT Libraries won first place in the annual construction contest,
in which teams built structures using items donated in the toy

competition UNT student Betsy Berger received first
runner-up honors for her entry in the Artist Book Competition
sponsored by the Friends of the UNT Libraries. The contest finalists' entries
will be displayed from Jan. 11 to Feb. 28 in the Rare Book Room
on the fourth floor of Willis Library. A reception is scheduled
from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 20. |

Marcello earns
lifetime achievement award
Ronald
E. Marcello, director of the UNT oral history program and professor
of history, has received the Thomas L. Charlton Lifetime Achievement
Award from the Texas Oral History Association.
