Two UNT music students earn Fulbright grants to fund international study

Two College of Music students will leave in September for their studies abroad as recipients of Fulbright grants, which are among the nation's most prestigious awards for international graduate study.

Eric Jones, who is seeking a master's degree in ethnomusicology, plans to study folk music in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Jennifer Sadoff, a doctoral student in music theory, will research 20th-century music theorist Heinrich Schenker at the University of Vienna in Austria.

"The Fulbright grant is an exceptionally prestigious award. It's the largest U.S. international exchange program, funding academic work for approximately 1,100 students in the nation annually," says Mary Beth Butler, director of the UNT Study Abroad Center. "UNT is very proud to have two students receive Fulbright grants this year. They are headed for distinction in their fields, and this is an important first step."

Jones holds bachelor's and master's degrees in viola performance from UNT. Sadoff earned her master's degree in music from UNT in 2001
