Nineteen students earn Mayborn scholarships

UNT's Frank W. Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism awarded $190,000 in scholarships to students for the 2005-06 academic year. Nineteen students, all pursuing master's degrees in journalism, will each receive $10,000.

The Frank W. Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism was established in 1999 through funding from the Frank W. and Anyse Sue Mayborn Foundation Advise and Consult Fund at Communities Foundation of Texas. Through this gift, the Mayborn Graduate Institute is able to offer up to $200,000 in scholarships every year. The scholarships are for one academic year and can be renewed for an additional year.

This year's Mayborn Scholarship recipients are:

  • Tricia Lynn Damerson from Burleson
  • Rebecca Ekpe from Accra, Ghana
  • Christie Jones from Los Angeles
  • Don Jones from Fort Worth
  • Stephanie Landa from Fort Worth
  • Randy Lee Loftis from Richardson
  • James Lucas from Dallas
  • Trevor Naughton from Round Rock
  • Nicole Osei from Arlington
  • Britney Porter from Frisco
  • Haven Holsinger Rowland from Lewisville
  • Hannah Seddelmeyer from Corpus Christi
  • Rumee Singh from Kathmandu, Nepal
  • Jacob Taylor from San Angelo
  • Rhashaun Trammell from Pine Bluff, Ark.
  • David Wachanga from Nairobi, Kenya
  • Megan Weadock from Las Cruces, N.M.
  • David Woodford from Henderson
