About 600 volunteers are needed to help students move into UNT's residence halls during Sunday Fun Day on Aug. 21. Faculty and staff, as well as members of their families, are encouraged to participate. Eleven of UNT's 12 residence halls will open at 10 a.m. that day for the 2005 fall semester. Now in its eighth year, Sunday Fun Day gives faculty and staff members a chance to meet students and their parents by carrying luggage into students' rooms, distributing room keys, helping students fill out forms and answering questions. In addition, volunteers are needed to serve food and drinks at the park next to Crumley Hall and on the Eagle Point Campus. Volunteers are asked to work a two-hour shift either from 10 a.m. to noon or noon to 2 p.m. Each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt for lending a helping hand. Maureen Clouse, assistant director for residential and judicial affairs, says about 75 percent of students who lived in residence halls last year moved in on Sunday Fun Day. She expects the same percentage to move in during this year's event. To volunteer, contact Clouse via e-mail at moe@hsl.admin.unt.edu by July 31. A week before Aug. 21, volunteers will be notified about the location where they are to report.
