Postal rates up as of June 30postal carrier

The price to mail a letter rose this week from 34 cents to 37 cents, marking the second increase in less than two years.

"The increase in postage will affect most UNT department budgets by about 10 percent," says Ginger Deussen, UNT assistant mail supervisor.

In addition to postal rates increasing for first-class mail, priority mail rates increased from $3.50 to $3.85 to send a package weighing up to a pound.

"A lot of departments use select services, like priority mail, when mailing proposals and grants," Deussen says.
