Homecoming 2001 theme unveiled Though summer temperatures are just warming up, work is already under way to make UNT's Homecoming 2001 a memorable event. Homecoming is Oct. 12 and 13 this year, and all events surround UNT's Saturday game against Middle Tennessee. Game time is 3:05 p.m. at Fouts Field. Individual tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the UNT athletics ticket office by calling 565-2527. The theme for Homecoming 2001 is "There's No Place Like Home." Events include a traditional pregame barbecue and tailgating in the Mean Green Village near Fouts Field on Saturday. UNT organizations and departments can rent a tent in the village to provide a place for their alumni to participate in activities and chat. According to Pat Sloan, director of special events in the Office of Development, a crowd of more than 4,000 gathered last year in the Mean Green Village before the Homecoming game, and barbecue was served to more than 1,500. "This year we are going to have an expanded promotional brochure that will be mailed to 140,000-plus alums and friends of the university," Sloan says. "This is a good opportunity for all colleges, schools, departments and organizations to make a connection with their alums. If they will send us e-mail pertaining to reunions or events they are planning around Homecoming, we will attempt to list them in the brochure, based on space available." To rent a tent in the Mean Green Village or to have your organization's events included in the Homecoming brochure, contact Sloan at 565-3689 or send e-mail to sloan@unt.edu. Information must be received by July 20 to be included in the brochure.
