Time
for summer enrollment in benefits programs approaches
It's
time again for UNT employees to think about benefits packages and enrolling
in opportunities they may have overlooked before.
Many benefits
programs allow state employees to enroll only once a year after their
initial hiring, just before the new fiscal year starts in September.
To help employees learn about the programs offered and the enrollment
process, UNT's human resources department is holding an informational
meeting Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. in the Silver Eagle Suite of the University
Union. The meeting will include a presentation of summer enrollment opportunities
and will provide a chance for UNT faculty and staff to speak to representatives
from the Employees Retirement System, HealthSelect, Cigna Dental, Aetna
Dental (DMO), Medco Health, TexSaver, PayFlex and the UNT benefits office.
Benefits representatives will also be on hand to help employees with the
enrollment process.
Changes
employees make during the summer enrollment period (July 21-Aug. 22) become
effective Sept. 1, in most cases. Between these dates UNT faculty and
staff can:
- enroll
in a TexFlex dependent care or health care reimbursement account. Current
participants must also re-enroll for the new plan year.
- apply
for the State Kids Insurance Program. Visit www.ers.state.tx.us
for more information.
- add
dependents to Health Select without evidence of insurability
- drop
dependents or coverages
- enroll
themselves or their dependents in a dental plan or change their dental
plan
- apply
through evidence of insurability to enroll eligible dependents in dependent
term life insurance
- apply
through evidence of insurability to enroll in optional or supplemental
term life insurance and short-term and long-term disability or change
other optional coverage
- enroll
in or change accidental death and dismemberment coverage
- apply
for long-term care insurance
