Elm Fork Education Center

The Elm Fork Education Center is the public education branch of UNT's environmental programs. Its mission is to develop and implement premier environmental education programs for learners of all ages. These programs engage students from ages 2 to 92 in field activities and opportunities designed to increase knowledge of the environment and to foster problem-solving skills and environmental responsibility. The EFEC staff is a collaborative team of educators provided by partnerships between UNT and the Denton Independent School District, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the Lewisville Independent School District.

The EFEC is currently involved in a variety of prekindergarten through 12th-grade education initiatives, including the Environmental Discovery and Adventure program, the Elm Fork Explorer's Summer Camp and an Environmental Explorers preschool program. The EFEC also offers learning opportunities for teachers through the GLOBE program and environmental education workshops, and offers public environmental education programs on sustainability, green building and environmental monitoring of the local environment.
