Successfully concluding a nationwide search, the UNT System has selected John Ellis Price to become the first full-time executive director of the UNT System Center at Dallas. He will take up his new responsibilities in July.

More Teach to the Future funding announced UNT is one of two regional training agencies in Texas that will benefit from the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund (TIF) board's investment of $4 million to expand the Intel Teach to the Future program in the state.
Shrader
appointed interim vice president for development UNT has appointed David Shrader, professor of music and former dean of the College of Music, to the post of interim vice president for development. According
to Chancellor Alfred F. Hurley, Shrader will serve for the duration of
UNT's $150 million capital campaign

Judith Forney, professor of merchandising, created a spirit of growth and cooperation with industry as interim dean of the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management. As the new permanent dean of the school she wants to expand that spirit. Geology trail is the newest addition to EESAT complex The Preston, Grant and Savannah Troutt Texas Geology Trail was dedicated June 6 at the Environmental Education, Science and Technology Building. The trail was made possible by a $35,000 gift from Kenny Troutt and Lisa Troutt ('85) as well as contributions of construction materials from various companies. Designed
by Reid Ferring, professor and chair of the Department of Geography, the
trail provides an outdoor geological classroom for people of all ages.
Journalism laboratory named for Fort Worth Star-Telegram editor Before he finished high school, retired Fort Worth Star-Telegram editor Jack Tinsley had published his first story in a city newspaper. Before he entered college, he was the editor of two newspapers. In recognition
of his service to Texas journalism and to the UNT Department of Journalism,
faculty in the department recently renamed the journalism reporting lab
in Tinsley's honor. Room 112 in UNT's General Academic Building is now
known as the Tinsley Reporting Lab.
UNT teams up with Army and Air Force Exchange Service UNT's School
of Merchandising and Hospitality Management is the first in the nation
to offer graduate merchandising certificates to Army and Air Force Exchange
Service (AAFES) employees. AAFES operates retail stores in U.S. military
bases around the world. Athletics
unveils season ticket packages for faculty, staff When new
UNT Athletic Director Rick Villarreal took his position two months ago,
one of his priorities was to increase opportunities for UNT faculty and
staff to attend home sporting events and become more a part of the game-day
atmosphere. True to his word, the program is almost in place. MC/PAIS making temporary move to General Academic Building Marketing and Communications/Public Affairs and Information Services, including InHouse, is moving next week to the fourth floor of the General Academic Building. It now is located on the third floor of the Administration Building.
Grandparents face special challenges when they become parents to grandchildren Annabel Baird did not expect to be arranging play dates or going to school meetings once her son and daughter were grown. However,
four years ago her son, now 29, became unable to care for his infant daughter.
Baird and her husband gained legal custody of their granddaughter, who
is now 5 years old. Baird will be 68 and her husband 70 when their granddaughter
graduates from high school. UNT Psychology Clinic to offer group for children of divorced parents The UNT Psychology Clinic will offer a counseling group this semester for children ages 7 to 11 whose parents have divorced or separated during the past year. Children
of Divorce Experience, or CODE, is designed to help children understand
the changes taking place in their families and to help them cope with
the feelings that accompany those changes.
Elm Fork
Education Center is collecting plastic bottles, egg cartons The Elm Fork Education Center is asking the UNT community to donate items that might otherwise find their way into the trash. Participants
in the Elm Fork Explorer's Camp programs can turn those castoffs into
scientific equipment.
