Athletics ticket packages for sale soon

When new UNT Athletic Director Rick Villarreal took his position two months ago, one of his priorities was to increase opportunities for UNT faculty and staff to attend home sporting events and become more a part of the game-day atmosphere. True to his word, the program is almost in place.Football

The athletic department will soon unveil packages, available to faculty and staff, that for the first time combine season tickets for UNT football and men's and women's basketball, all at a price well below that paid by the general public. The packages also include membership in the Mean Green Club an organization that bolsters support for UNT athletic programs.

Football season tickets last year were $70 per person for general admission and $55 per person for faculty and staff members. Men's basketball season tickets were $120 per person for general admission and $100 per person for faculty and staff. Women's basketball season tickets were $50 per person for general admission and $45 per person for faculty and staff. A faculty or staff member who purchased two season tickets for all three sports spent $400. Even though general admission ticket prices have gone up this year, faculty and staff members have one package available the Scrappy Package for less than last year's combined season ticket prices. Another package, the Boomer Package, is available to faculty and staff members for only $40 more than they paid last year for season tickets for all three sports.

In all, UNT is selling four season ticket packages. The Mean Green Package includes two football season tickets in sections D,E, F or M of Fouts Field (priority seating in the best seats available), two men's basketball season floor-level tickets and two women's basketball season tickets. The Mean Green Package is available to faculty and staff for $800 $200 less than the $1,000 price for the general public. These ticket packages are limited. The athletic department will start a waiting list for those interested. Floor seating for the Lady Eagles games can be obtained for an additional $50, while quantities last.

The North Texas Package includes two football season tickets in sections D, F or M of Fouts Field, two men's basketball season tickets (lower level at center court) and two women's basketball season tickets. The North Texas Package is available to faculty and staff for $520 $130 less than the $650 price for the general public. As with the Mean Green Package, floor seating for the Lady Eagles games is an additional $50.basketball

The Boomer Package includes two football season tickets in sections B, C, G or H of Fouts Field, two men's basketball season tickets and two women's basketball season tickets. Faculty and staff can get the Boomer Package for only $440 as opposed to $550 for the general public.

The Scrappy Package includes two football season tickets in sections A or I of Fouts Field, two men's basketball season tickets and two women's basketball season tickets. The Scrappy Package is available to faculty and staff for $260. The general public price will be $325.

Faculty and staff can pay for these packages through payroll deduction over 10 months.

"We want to make it possible for our entire university community to get involved in the athletic programs," Villarreal says. "Creating packaged ticket prices and providing the payroll-deduction option should make it easier for our on-campus partners who are so important to our success."

The new program is just the first step in Villarreal's long-term plan to unite the campus and build pride and spirit. A total of 3,000 packages will be available in this program.

Editor's note: A change was made to prices for two ticket packages after the printed version of InHouse went to press. More ticket package information will appear in the
July 6 InHouse.
