Applied Cultural Anthropology Research Center Many organizations, such as corporations and educational institutions, need help addressing issues that arise from interactions among members of different cultures. The staff members of the Applied Cultural Anthropology Research Center are anthropologists who use an applied holistic approach to resolve issues related to differences in cultural communication and behavior. Anthropologists study the biological and cultural differences and similarities among people in all parts of the world. They analyze factors such as environmental constraints, political structures, economic or subsistence patterns, language barriers, social structures, historical influences and religious constraints. Specialists from various disciplines are included to ensure that the center maintains its holistic approach. The ACARC provides interculturally and cross-culturally sensitive consultation, research, training, education, program development, distance learning opportunities, community service projects, Spanish bilingual support services, multicultural program services, ethnic minority program activities and documentation support. It works with local, regional, state and federal agencies; health and medical care organizations; social service agencies; housing authorities; private and nonprofit businesses; legal and regulatory agencies; and educational institutions. by Tyson Gibbs, director Editor's note: InHouse is featuring official UNT centers and institutes.
