Construction on Eagle Drive expected to begin soon

UNT commuters who usually breathe a sigh of relief once they hit the perimeter of campus after fighting their way through highway traffic may soon be breathing a sigh of frustration when the city of Denton temporarily closes down Eagle Drive to repair surface deterioration.

Repairs were scheduled to start June 6, but inclement weather has caused the city to postpone them. A new     official start date for the construction has not been scheduled.

Maintenance on Eagle Drive will start at North Texas Boulevard and end at Carroll Boulevard and will take the entire summer to complete.

Although one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction on Eagle Drive, alternate routes suggested by the city are Hickory Street for eastbound traffic and Oak Street for westbound traffic.

For road construction reports, visit the City of Denton's web site at www.cityofdenton.com.
