Unofficial counts thus far show that summer enrollment at UNT is up this year.
John Ed Allen, former chair of the UNT Department of Mathematics, has been named the new assistant dean/director of academic programs for UNT's Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science. His appointment is effective Sept. 1.

NT Daily
Sounds begins web broadcasting
In late April, ntdaily.com launched
NT Daily Sounds, an extension of the North Texas Daily web site,
broadcasting music from local bands and news reports produced by UNT
students.

Summer camp
for gifted math students at UNT next month
While
many students at Austin's Lake Travis High School spent last July sleeping
late, swimming and savoring their time away from academics, James Tabat
spent most of the month completing a semester's worth of Algebra II.
And he plans to spend most of this July studying pre-calculus.
Farewell
events planned to honor Hurleys
This summer holds about a dozen farewell events to honor UNT System Chancellor Alfred F. Hurley and his wife, Joanna. Earlier this year, Hurley announced his plans to retire at the end of August.
Eighteen
earn 2002-03 Mayborn Scholarships
The UNT Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism has awarded $180,000
in scholarships to students for the 2002-03 academic year.

library and information sciences, has turned into an ongoing mission
of good librarianship.

The
start of the fall semester may still be months away, but the Department
of Housing and many members of the Division of Student Development are
already planning this year's event to help freshmen settle into
residence halls.
