McConnell named director of Counseling and Testing Center

Judith McConnell, assistant professor of psychology, has been named director of the Counseling and Testing Center in the Division of Student Development.

McConnell joined the center in 1991 as assistant director and has led the program's efforts and activities as the interim director since 1998.

The center provides confidential psychological services to students, including counseling to address personal, social and emotional concerns; general educational and career guidance; and marital and premarital counseling. In addition, it provides vocational interest tests, personality tests and aptitude tests.

The center works with faculty and staff members on an emergency basis only.

It is a national testing center and computer-based testing site for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Information and application forms for various national tests are available in the center office (Suite 321 in the University Union).

"Considering all that she has already done, we expect Dr. McConnell will do an excellent job in moving the Counseling and Testing Center forward," says Reginald Bond, Student Health and Wellness Services executive director.

McConnell earned her bachelor's degree in secondary education, master's degree in guidance and counseling, and doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Texas A&M.
