D. GOAL: THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS IS COMMITTED TO INCREASING THE NUMBER AND VALUE OF BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS WITH HISTORICALLY UNDERUTILIZED BUSINESS FIRMS CONSISTENT WITH THE STATE'S FUNCTIONAL GOAL TO BUILD A SOLID FOUNDATION OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC PROSPERITY.

D.1. Objective: To work toward meeting the various goals of the state for the use of Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) in our contracts and subcontracts.

D.1.1. Strategies: To improve the outreach program which is designed to contact and maintain continuous liaison with the Dallas/FT. Worth Metroplex HUB business community.

Invite Minority/Woman Owned Businesses to the University for vendor trade shows attended by campus departments.

Create a HUB brochure for marketing and information to vendors. Mail to potential HUB vendors and to HUB vendors on the GSC CMBL and our internal HUB list.
Increase the number of bids mailed to HUB vendors.
Include HUB vendors in the yearly bids for UNT contracts (EX. Temporary Employee Services, etc.)

Expand and improve the university's campus-based program designed to educate and train faculty and staff on how to maximize purchases from HUB firms.
Include HUB news and updates in "The Spreadsheet" publication to accountholders
Meet with Campus departments on how to choose a HUB vendor and how to navigate the GSC Web site.

reporting requirements of the General Services Commission.
Use an Access Database for tracking Sub-contracting payments to HUB Sub-contractors.

Have contractors to use Historically Underutilized Businesses as partners and/or subcontractors by including a HUB policy compliance form along with the bid proposal submitted to UNT.

Review Bids for contracts over $100,000.00 to ensure they include a HUB subcontracting plan.
